SPICY SOUTHWEST DRESSING
If you like a liltle heat in your food, this dressing is what you need. Make it as spicy as you want, just add more jalapenos and red pepper flakes. This recipe is mild to me.

Ingredients
- ½ cup MAYO
- ¼ cup SOUR CREAM
- ¼ cup chopped FRESH CILANTRO
- ¼ cup chopped FRESH PARSLEY
- 1 teaspoon DRY OREGANO
- Juice of 1 LEMON
- ½ teaspoon CUMIN
- 1 teaspoon CHILE FLAKES
- 1 fresh finely chopped JALAPENO
Directions
- Step 1 In a medium size mixing bowl add all the ingredients together and mix well, let it rest for 30 minutes so the flavors can come together.
- Step 2 Keep in an airtight glass container for up to 6 days.
TIPS:
- Change sour cream and mayo for plain yogurt if you are counting calories
- You can add siracha if you like
If you’re the kind of person that adds hot sauce to everything, this dressing might do you right. I love spicy food; I’ll say from 1(not spicy) to 10(crying) I’m a good 7. I enjoy the flavors of different chili peppers and sauces out there, also, the way some of them hit you right upfront and others kind of sneak up on you. I don’t know who came up with the idea of making a spicy dressing for a salad, but it works.
The reason why is called spicy southwest dressing is because is made with ingredients you can easily find in the cuisines of Texas, California, New Mexico and Arizona.
I use this dressing when I make tacos, specially with grilled meats, also when we have “carnitas” available I buy a good portion and make sure I save some to make a salad with the leftovers. Trust me is one of those salads that will clean your fridge but is just amazing in flavor, all thanks to the carnitas and the spicy southwest dressing.
Another thing that I like about this dressing is that is super simple to make, you just mix all the ingredients together and that’s it. I like to make mine with a day in advance, so I can make sure all the flavors are going to mix well and the spiciness is just right.
Here is a recipe for the Carnitas salad I was telling you before, trust me, you’ll want to make it. In the meantime, get your ingredients ready and LET’S GET COOKING!!!
