Hi there, allow me to introduce myself…

I am Gustavo and I have been cooking for about 15 years, anybody that knows me will tell you that I am a Foodie.

During all this years,  I´ve had the chance to cook with great chefs, learn many styles of cuisines, master a few techniques and taste thousands of amazing preparations. Many years ago, I worked for restaurants, hotels and bars, and I learned a lot of amazing things that made me fall in love with food and everything around it. About 8 years ago I got a job as a “cooking coach”, which has been my most enriching professional experience so far, basically I had to visit different homes and help people with their everyday cooking needs. At the beginning I thought it was going to be super easy, but soon enough I realized I was absolutely wrong.

I was used to having a set menu, with prep guidelines and standard recipes, which in real life don´t exist. I rapidly had to learn to improvise and work with what I had at hand, just like you have to do at home on a regular basis. Also, I had to learn all about meal planning on a budget, grocery lists, special offer days and leftover miracles. Needless to say, I was out of my comfort zone.

The reason why I said it was my most enriching professional experience yet, it´s because it gave me the chance to learn new stuff constantly. I mean my food knowledge grew by 3000% in a few months. Just think about it, I had to answer all kinds of questions about recipes, preparations, sauces,marinades, seasonings, food storing, food handling, basic techniques, not so basic techniques, where do I buy this? How can I cook that? Have you ever tried this or that? Well, you get the point, right?

Because I was answering questions and trying different recipes all day long,  eventually, all that knowledge became my best asset. My former colleagues will tease me if they ever hear me saying this, but I can proudly say that I became a Professional Home Cook.

Now, let me ask you something and correct me if I am wrong, but you came here looking for answers about food and cooking, didn´t you?

That’s why I’ve created 20recipes.com so I can help you with your cooking!!

It doesn’t matter if you have no clue about anything in the kitchen or if you are a well known foodie . My goal is to make your cooking experience fun and enjoyable. To do this, I am going to share with you my recipes, knowledge and advice on cooking and I promise you, it will be entertaining.     

The only thing that I ask from you, is that you get involved. if you see, read or hear anything that captures your interest, go ahead and comment. I love to interact with people and if you have anything interesting that you want to share, just go for it!!
